I Challenge Plastic Bottle is a recycling campaign for plastic bottles that was initiated by Father Davis Chiramel (Chairman, KIDNEY FEDERATION OF INDIA) on October 2nd across Kerala. The Kerala floods was a trigger for this campaign because post floods huge debris of plastic bottles were deposited on the river banks highlighting the lack of solid waste management. The major activities of their campaign are to conduct awareness in school assembly with several activities Song, pledge and dance with plastic anthems. So far in Kerala all the major schools in Kottayam, Kochi and Thrissur district was involved in the campaign. A fixed date is given to each school and they collect plastic from schools and handed it over to recyclers. They are in collaboration with KSMA (Kerala Scrap Merchant Association). KSMA help in finding recyclers.
